Dr. Suzanne M. Loheac, DVM - Dr. Loheac is a 1993 graduate of Skidmore College and a 1998 graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation Dr. Loheac went to work at Suffolk Downs and Rockingham Park as a commission veterinarian. This is where she met Dr. Erica Fuller and shortly thereafter became an associate veterinarian for her equine medical care practice, Backstretch Veterinary. A few years later Dr. Fuller changed careers and Dr. Loheac took over the reins at Backstretch. Dr. Loheac main interests are Equine Sports Medicine including alternative therapies such as acupuncture and chiropractic as well as injury rehabilitation for horses. From the age of 5 Dr. Loheac was an avid hunter/jumper rider competing up and down the East Coast until her children were born 10 years ago. Most recently she has gotten back in the saddle experimenting with Polo. In her spare time, she likes to travel with her family enjoys taking care of the variety of animals on her farm.


Dr. Leah Guidry, DVM - Dr. Leah Guidry is a graduate of the University of Florida and went to veterinary school at Auburn University. Following graduation, she completed a one-year internship at Lexington Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky. With a father in the Air Force, Leah's family moved around a lot, but she calls Florida home. She began riding horses when she was four years old and started Eventing when she got her first horse several years later. In her spare time Leah enjoys running and hiking with her dog Zeke, cooking for friends, and cheering on her alma mater, the Auburn Tigers!


Dr. Kate Frazier - Dr. Kate Frazier is originally from Bristol, Connecticut. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire and then continued to attain her veterinary degree from Cornell University. Following graduation from veterinary school, she completed a one-year internship at Ocean State Equine Associates in Rhode Island. She has a special interest in horse lameness, equine dentistry, and wellness care. In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her horse, PA, and dog, Nessie.




Michele Jeffrey Peltroche - Michele brings a lifetime of experience caring for equine athletes to Backstretch Veterinary Inc. Prior to joining us, Michele performed several different roles within the Thoroughbred racing industry both on the ground and on horseback. Most recently, she acted as the Safety Compliance Officer at Suffolk Downs in East Boston as the primary liaison between horsemen, track management, and racing officials. Her work included responding in emergency situations to assess, triage, and obtain veterinary assistance; planning and executing rehabilitation plans; developing rehoming and retirement plans; and proactively coordinating overall welfare improvements for horses. A lifelong equestrian, Michele brings an invaluable amount of hands-on experience to the team.

Office Manager

Jean Ruhan - Jean Ruhan has been with Backstretch Veterinary for over 27 years as the office manager who holds everything together for the practice. She has a long history with horses showing mainly Hackney ponies and Saddlebreds, but has also dabbled in breeding and showing Norwegian Fjords in combined driving and driving/showing miniature horses. Now she spends time with her granddaughter who is riding and showing.
